Emanuela Abbatecola, Sociologist and feminist, she is Associate Professor at Disfor, University of Genova.
She is the Editor in Chief of AG–AboutGender, International Journal on Gender Studies (https://riviste.unige.it/aboutgender/).
Her main topics are: gender studies; gender based violence; migration and trafficking related to sex and labour markets; gender stereotypes; sexism; heteronormativity and non-binarism. On these topics she is been working in National and European projects and publishing books and papers. Her last book is: “Donna Faber. Lavori maschili, sex-sismo e strategie di r-esistenza, Milano, Feltrinelli, 2023.
Rebecca Brambilla, MSc, is a Research Associate for the Institute for Medical Information Processing, Biometry and Epidemiology (IBE) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich, Germany, where she is also currently a doctoral candidate. After training as a social scientist, she obtained an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh (2018) and an MSc in Reproductive & Sexual Health Research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2021), and she is currently conducting public health research in LMICs.
Her research focuses on biopsychosocial predictors of interpersonal violence perpetration in men, including domestic violence and non-partner sexual violence, such as child abuse experiences, aggression, mental ill-health, addiction, and gender norms.
Antonia Cava is Associate Professor of Sociology of cultural and communicative processes and Delegate for Communication of the Department of Cognitive Sciences, Psychological, Education and Cultural Studies of the University of Messina.
Member of several national and international research groups, her focus is on Audience Studies. Since 2024, she has been Coordinator of the degree course in Social Service, Social Policy, Sociological Studies and Social Research. She has been Manager of the Master course “Expert in social action on minors and mafia” of the University of Messina and she is currently in charge of a book series of the Interuniversity Centre for research on sociology of law, information and law institutions (Aracne Editrice). She has taken part in congresses in Italy and abroad, and she has written over 70 publications for Italian (Mondadori, Mimesis, FrancoAngeli) and international (Springer, Peter Lang) publishers and for Italian and foreign peer-reviewed journals (among which Sociology of law, Media Education, Mediascapes Journal, Brain Science, Comunicación y Género).
Mario Cerbone is an Associate Professor of “Labour Law” at the University of Sannio, Department of “Law, economics, management and mathematical methods”, where he teaches “Labour Law” and “Public Labour Law”.
He received his PhD in “Labour Law” from the University of Bari. His main research interests include the fundamental rights of employees, legal protection against gender discrimination in employment, protection of workers’ health, algorithmic management, collective bargaining and employment relationships in public administrations.
He currently serves as the Equality Councilor for the Province of Avellino.
Barbara Ceremigna, graduated in Sociology at the Sapienza University of Rome, she obtained a Master’s degree in Welfare: theoretical foundations and data analysis at the University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto.
Her research interests focus on gender violence and discrimination based on gender identity.
She currently works at the Studies and Research Directorate of INPS, where she deals with labor market and firms’ system.
Francesco De Caro holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery, specializing in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, and has additional training in General Medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Salerno. He serves as the scientific director of the “Public Health Laboratory for the Analysis of Community Health Needs” within the same department.
Since 2001 he has been involved in coordinating internships, serving on graduation committees, and participating in quality control for degree programs. He has been involved in creating educational programs and regulations for medical specialization schools. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Environmental Commission of the Salerno Medical and Dental Association. He is the Vice-President of the “Observatory on Occupational and Environmental Diseases” at the University of Salerno and the Salerno Local Health Authority (ASL). Since 2020, he has been the Coordinator of Health Professions Degree Programs at the University of Salerno.
In healthcare roles, he is responsible for the COVID-19 vaccination program at the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona University Hospital in Salerno and the hospital’s Clinical Risk Coordinator since 2020. He has held several leadership positions, including Director of “Risk Evaluation Management and Reporting” and Medical Director of the Amalfi Coast Hospital. He has also served as a member of the Infection Control Committee and has been actively involved in initiatives related to clinical risk management and violence prevention in healthcare settings.

She is the author of more than one hundred and fourty publications on various topics of European Union Law and International Law. Secretary General of the Italian Society of International and European Law (SIDI-ISIL).
Simona Gaudi is a molecular Biologist with a PhD in Biotechnology, and researcher in the Department of Environment and Health at the Italian National Institute of Health, Rome.
She has worked at the World Health Organization Laboratory at the University of California Davis (UCD), USA, focusing on recombinant vaccines. Upon returning to Europe, she engaged in cancer genetics research at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon. Since 1999, she has been a researcher at the Italian National Institute of Health, with her research centred on the functional genomics of non-communicable, multifactorial, and multigenic diseases, with a particular focus on the role of repetitive sequences and epigenetic aspects.
From 2016, at the Department of Environment and Health, she has been able to develop the study of genome-environment interactions, focusing on epigenetic modifications present in the genomes of women who experience violence. This research aims to identify potential molecular predictive pathways of the possible onset of complex and chronic diseases in order to implement therapeutic protocols for precision preventive medicine.
Paola Iovino is a Full Professor in Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, Salerno University, AOU Ruggi d’Aragona, Salerno where she is dedicated to patients’ care, scientific research, and education.
Her main focus is disorders of Gut-Brain Interactions, gastroesophageal reflux disease in lean and obese, and eosinophilic esophagitis.
Professor Iovino is an author of papers and book chapters.
Gabriela Motoi is Associate Professor, PhD., at University of Craiova, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, Philosophy and Social Work. Her work often intersects gender equality, labor market analysis, and educational policies. As a member of the academic and research community, she has taken an active role in shaping gender equality initiatives, being part of the expert team responsible for designing the Gender Equality Plan for the University of Craiova. As an expert evaluator for various projects, she has conducted in-depth research on gender equality, particularly in relation to labor markets transformed by artificial intelligence and platform work. In 2022, she served as an expert coordinator for a sociological research project for the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), which focused on qualitative analysis of how emerging technologies (especially platform working) are affecting gender equality in Romania’s labor market.
Through her sociological research, she has explored the cultural, social, and economic factors that contribute to the perpetuation of violence against women, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. Her research in the South-West Oltenia region of Romania has provided valuable insights into how socio-economic disparities, cultural norms, and institutional shortcomings create environments where gender-based violence can persist. She was Expert in 20 national and European research projects, she has published 55 articles in academic sociology journals, and she is author and co-author at 21 sociology books.
Giuseppina Pellegrino is Assistant Professor in Sociology of Culture and Communication at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Calabria.
Her research interests focus on Science and Technology Studies and intersect Media, Mobilities and Gender Studies.
She was Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer in Italian Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where she taught “Italian Media, Gender and Politics

Georgina Yaa Oduro holds a PhD degree from the University of Cambridge, UK. She is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Cape Coast, Ghana – West Africa. Prior to this, she was the Director of the University’s Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) where she provided leadership as Principal Investigator in a number of Ghanaian and international context gender related research projects and actively promoted the Centre’s Advocacy and Outreach activities.
Professionally, Georgina, teaches and undertakes research projects in the areas of sociological theory, gender issues, sexualities, gender-based violence, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, youth cultures, the blue economy as well as sociology of work and occupation. Georgina is the Ghana lead for the multidisciplinary and multi-country Mastercard Foundation funded project on gendered inequities in the creative sector involving seven African countries including Ghana, a project directed by the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW). Georgina is also involved in a project on women in transnational trade in Western and Central Africa with funding from the Canadian Research Council. She is passionate about female education and the empowerment of disadvantaged members of the society.
